- What is New Spring Ministries? -
New Spring Ministries is a non-denominational Christian church based in Kirkland, Washington. Our goal is to glorify God by obeying His commandments and reflecting Jesus Christ. As part of the global church, we firstly exist to answer the call Jesus has put on the life of every Christian: to "go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything [He has] commanded [us]" (Matthew 28:19-20). We aim to cultivate community and create space for God to move miraculously.
- New Spring Ministries: A Christocentric Name -
God has called the community of NSM to teach, preach, share, and walk in the newness that Christ has called us to. We derive our name from the following scriptures discussing "springs of living water", assuming the identity of a "new creation", and acknowledging Jesus' incarnation was to "make all things new".
Isaiah 43:19 | John 7:37-38 | Revelation 21:5 | John 4:13 | 2 Corinthians 5:17
We also recognize how in addition to the references of living water and a verb for action/movement, the word "spring" can reflect the season of life, growth, and new beginnings.
- Our Mission -
Leading people into a life-changing encounter with Jesus Christ.
Our Foundational Values & Beliefs:
BIBLICAL
We believe the canon Old Testament and New Testament to be the sole infallible, inspired word of God, not written to us, but for us. 2 Timothy 3:16-17 tells us that "all Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work".
TRINITARIAN
We believe that God is triune in nature, not as three gods or simply three personas God presents Himself as, but as three distinct persons in one Godhead. This understanding of God is crucial in understanding God's emphasis on community and relationship.
CHRISTOCENTRIC
We recognize Jesus Christ, not as a greater or lesser member of the Trinity, but as the chief actor in our relationship with God. As our intercessor, mediator, savior, and redeemer, Jesus Christ calls all into a covenant, participatory relationship with Himself and thus, the Father and Holy Spirit.
HOLY SPIRIT - EMPOWERED
As a member of the Trinity, we are meant to participate and have relationship with the Holy Spirit. We believe the Holy Spirit is a helper, guide and one that empowers us to carry out God's will. Christ is very clear that we are to worship in Spirit and truth.
FAITH, HOPE, LOVE
1 Corinthians 13 tells us that while everything must fade and pass away, "these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love". These three constants should be the foundation upon which we build our lives.
IMAGO DEI
God created humankind in His own image, setting us apart from the rest of creation. We recognize that in carrying this image of God, we have a responsibility to reflect God's character in all that we do. This fundamental aspect of humanity also carries authority; just as God is the Creator, we are creative beings and have the ability to create things (though not to the same extent or in the same way as God created all things).
THE FULLNESS OF WORSHIP
We believe that worship is an act of giving oneself completely to God. Whether in song, by being generous with one's money, or working one's job with excellence, worship should be a lifestyle we live for God. We encourage the fullness of this lifestyle and reject the misconception that worship is simply the music played at a church gathering.
THE GIFTS OF THE SPIRIT
1 Corinthians 12 tells us that all gifts are from the Spirit and are given for the "common good". Paul writes, "to one there is given through the Spirit a message of wisdom, to another a message of knowledge by means of the same Spirit, to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by that one Spirit, 10 to another miraculous powers, to another prophecy, to another distinguishing between spirits, to another speaking in different kinds of tongues, and to still another the interpretation of tongues" (1 Corinthians 12:8-10). We believe these spiritual gifts are just as much for today as they were for the 1st century church. God gives us each unique gifts and abilities and calls us to use what He has given us. (Matthew 25:14-30).
THE NATURE OF CHRIST
We believe Jesus Christ was 100% human and 100% God; not simply a man with a special connection with God; not God just appearing as a man; and not as some third being altogether. This is important in understanding Christ's work on Earth. It was Christ who died on the cross for the sins of all because He was the only one who could bridge the gap between God's holiness and humankind's sinfulness.
